2020.10.19 23:08 Fr33TheRobots Thank you

Just a big thank you to all of my non Armenian Americans who support our country's cause.
For those who dont know, Armenian genocide #2 is currently taking place by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Turkish NATO f-16s being used along with jihadis from syria to kill Armenian Christians and continue the Turkish policy of Genocide. Armenia has a choice of calling russia in through its partnership in CSTO but has not done so yet. If Armenia is forced to do so, this might end up causing ww3. Ideally, the USA and europe can force turkey to stop or at least stop selling them weapons to use to kill our people.
Anyways, once again thank you again for your support.
God bless the USA and Armenia. Long live USA & Armenia!

2020.10.19 22:55 Krane- Who exactly is Azerbaijan fighting?

Don't tease me for the dumb sounding title, yes I know Azerbaijan is fighting ethnic Armenians, but who specifically? Some people refer to the Azerbaijani enemy as "arcax army", which is the Nagorno-Karabakh army kind of group. Others refer directly to Armenia as the enemy. So is it just the Karabakh army that Azerbaijan is facing, are regular Armenian troops mixed in with official Armenian army equipment in this Karabkh army, or is it just the Armenian army but to officially hide it do they call the fighters the army Arcax?

2020.10.19 22:31 LatePlatypus5 Outcome of this war and Russia's role.

Commented this on another thread but decided to make a post to hear your opinions. I have heard this view in Юрий Подоляка's analysis, and it makes sense to me.
Russia wants to end this war in azerbaijans favor. It is not in russia's interests to help armenia win and preserve the status quo. If they really wanted that they would have done so already. Their unwillingness is apparent. Russia doesn't want to alienate azerbaijan and create tensions with turkey. Russia doesn't like current armenian admin. To a lesser degree, russia doesnt want this war in it's backyard. Russia can possibly get rid of Pashinyan administration and appease azerbaijan at the same time by solving karabakh, therefore increasing russian influence in the region. Yet Russia doesn't want total capitulation of armenia. Russia wants russian peacekeepers in karabakh. Surrounding regions are returned. Nk gets autonomy and is formally returned to azerbaijan with russian peacekeepers. In case of total capitulation, this wouldn't be necessary.
imo the outcome of this conflict may be "decided" by this point, regardless of the outcome of specific battles. it may be not a question of if, but when. Of course, i would like it to end as soon as possible, to prevent further bloodshed. It seems that armenian administration doesn't want to accept it yet. them accepting it could be political suicide(getting replaced with pro russian admin)
what do you think?
also, if someone could post this in the armenian sub, please do so(I'm banned). I'd like to hear their opinion too.

Armenians met Donald Trump in Los Angeles yesterday

Los Angeles Armenians, holding Artsakh signs, gathered near the building attended by President Trump. They were mainly Trump supporters waving Armenian and the U.S. flags. Trump showed "thumbs up" from his car
During his speech to the crowd, Trump saw an Armenian fan and mentioned meeting Armenians in Los Angeles, saying "They're great business people. We're working on something [about Artsakh]. People in Armenia have a great spirit for their country."

Bloomberg: Erdogan Does What He Can Get Away With

"Erdogan has again avoided barbs at Putin, but he has name-checked Russia in his attacks against the international community for failing to hand the Armenian-majority Nagorno-Karabakh region over to Azerbaijan.
And for the first time, Turkey is intervening in what Moscow regards as its sphere of influence: the Caucasus is closer to Russia — not just geographically but also in historical, cultural, strategic and economic terms — than Syria or Libya."
[text in square brackets are comments added by me]

Pashinyan gives context and lists the options:

1) What is this war for? For the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
2) Could we have avoided this war? Yes, if we agreed to give the [7] regions to Azerbaijan and receive an unclear status for Nagorno-Karabakh [no independence], an unclear time-frame for resolving its status [possibly another war], and no mechanisms to clarify its future.
3) Could we have achieved any "status" for Nagorno-Karabakh through negotiations? No, because the last chance was in 2011 in Kazan [where Armenian president Serj Sargsyan agreed to give away the 7 regions in exchange for keeping the remaining Nagorno-Karabakh out of Azeri control. Ilham Aliyev rejected the offer because he wants everything, including the lands historically inhabited by Armenians].
4) Can we stop this war now through negotiations? Theoretically yes, if we agree to the Point-2 above but with worse conditions [no autonomy for remaining Nagorno-Karabakh].
5) Can this war resolve the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh? Yes, if we make successes in this war.
6) Can we succeed in this war? Yes, if we focus our national potential around that goal and selflessly commit to that goal.

2020.10.19 22:02 autotldr Armenian leader accuses Israel of aiding 'genocide' against his people: Arayik Harutyunyan, the Armenian leader of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, says Israeli authorities "are also responsible for this genocide".

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 23%. (I'm a bot)
The de-facto leader of a disputed region claimed by both Armenia and Azerbaijan accused Israel of assisting in a genocide against his people.
In a speech last week, Arayik Harutyunyan, the Armenian leader of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, said Israel is "Responsible for the genocide in Karabakh." Harutyunyan was referring somewhat hyperbolically to the deaths of several hundred people in recent weeks in armed clashes between Armenian separatists and Azerbaijani troops.
"These statements are a mockery. Of course they know and continue to supply weapons anyway. And the authorities of Israel, which itself survived the genocide, are also responsible for this genocide," Harutyunyan said, according to a report in RIA Novosti.
Israel's economic ties to Azerbaijan, which supplies about one-third of Israel's total oil consumption, have long complicated relations with Armenia, which recalled its ambassador from Israel on Oct. 2 on account of the weapons sales, though without making any reference to genocide.
The move came just months after Armenia's president, Armen Sarkissian, made a landmark visit to Israel in which he spoke about the bonds between the nations born of their shared experience of genocide.
Israel and Armenia "Share common history through painful and sad times with the extinction of millions in the Holocaust and the Armenian genocide," Sarkissian said in a Jan. 24 speech in Holon, referring to the killing of hundreds of thousands of Armenians by Turkish soldiers during World War I. Israel for decades declined to recognize the slayings as genocide for fear it would anger Turkey, a major trading partner.

2020.10.19 22:00 autotldr Azeri forces accused of beheading Armenian soldier

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 44%. (I'm a bot)
AZERI soldiers have been accused of beheading an Armenian and taunting the victim's family by posting a photo of his decapitated head on social media, human rights defenders said today.
Human Rights Defenders of Armenia spokesman Arman Tatoyan said the incident took place on Friday when a member of Azerbaijan's armed forces phoned the brother of an Armenian soldier and said he had been captured.
Azerbaijani troops then beheaded the Armenian and posted the photo on his brother's Facebook page.
Baku has been accused of seeking to cleanse the province of its majority Armenian population.
A six-year war began in 1988 over Nagorno-Karabakh, a landlocked area of Azerbaijan whose Armenian majority voted to join Yerevan in a referendum boycotted by Azerbaijan.
Turkey has been accused of inflaming tensions by sending hundreds of jihadists and other militia associated with the Free Syrian Army to the region to fight on behalf of its ally Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has been accused of war crimes, with Amnesty International confirming earlier this month that banned cluster bombs had been used in attacks on the regional capital Stepanakert.
